The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) is an outside organization which measures Veterinary Hospitals against the most rigorous published standards in the industry. The AAHA Standards of Accreditation include more than 900 individual standards and were developed in order to raise the bar of veterinary excellence.

Dr. Sonnya Dennis is Board-Certified in Canine and Feline Practice with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners
To achieve ABVP certification, practitioners undergo a rigorous credentialing and examination process to become Diplomates and are fully recognized as Specialists under the American Board of Veterinary Specialties, American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
Dr. Sonnya Dennis is one of FOUR Board-Certified Specialists in Canine and Feline Practice in the state of New Hampshire and is the only ABVP certified veterinarian in primary care in the Seacoast of New Hampshire.

The American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) represents a group of clinicians who have chosen to pursue advanced clinical training.
Certification as a Diplomate typically takes 3-4 years to achieve and involves a rigorous program of credentialing, case report submission, and a series of practical and written tests. Once certified, doctors must maintain ongoing continuing education credits and undergo regular recredentialing.

The AAHA Standards of Accreditation include more than 900 individual standards, divided into 19 major sections including patient care, surgery, pharmacy, laboratory, exam facilities, pet health records, cleanliness, emergency services, dental and nursing care, diagnostic imaging, anesthesiology, and continuing education.
Only 15 percent of all small animal veterinary practices
in the U.S. have achieved accreditation by AAHA
In order to maintain accredited status, each hospital must continue to be evaluated
at least once every three years by the association's practice consultants.
