AAHA Accreditation Matters

Voluntary commitment to the AAHA Standards and the Accreditation Program demonstrates that SNVH has chosen to have itself measured by an outside organization against the most rigorous published standards in the industry.
  • The American Animal Hospital Association standards are recognized around the world as the benchmark for quality care in veterinary medicine
  • The AAHA Standards of Accreditation include more than 900 individual standards, divided into 19 major sections including patient care, surgery, pharmacy, laboratory, exam facilities, pet health records, cleanliness, emergency services, dental and nursing care, diagnostic imaging, anesthesiology, and continuing education.
  • Only ~15 percent of all small animal veterinary practices in the U.S. have achieved accreditation by AAHA
  • In order to maintain accredited status, each hospital must continue to be evaluated at least once every three years by the association's practice consultants.
